New Century Project Nears $4.8 Million Goal
Final donations will complete major fundraising effort

The New Century Project supports special academic programs at Bishop Ward, such as our Academy of Finance, which was recently named one of the Top 5 in the Nation.

Bishop Ward High School is launching its second century of service, and the New Century Project is the fuel that will rocket the school into the future.

The multi-phased New Century Project was initiated by the Board of Trustees at the start of Bishop Ward’s Centennial Year, aimed at successfully securing the future of Catholic education in Wyandotte County. As the year draws to an end, Bishop Ward is very close to achieving this goal.

“We are so grateful to the many alumni, friends and benefactors of Bishop Ward who stepped up to support our school as we start our second hundred years in Wyandotte County,” President Father Michael Hermes said. “We hope that even more people will come forward to help us make our goal for the New Century Project so that we may continue to move Bishop Ward forward.”

The New Century Project focuses on securing $4.8 million for capital maintenance and restoration, scholarship support and endowment.

To get the fund drive off the ground, a family foundation set the pace with a $250,000 challenge grant. It was met in four months! Now that we are finalizing the appeal and our goal is in sight, another family has provided the same, generous matching grant opportunity.

Many committed alumni have joined the campaign with their gifts to the school. They think it is an appropriate way to show their appreciation for the education they received and to emphasize their belief in Bishop Ward’s future.

Bishop Ward’s Centennial Year draws to a close at the end of 2008, and we are appealing to alumni and the community to help raise the final $500,000 needed for endowment and $400,000 needed to reach the goal for scholarship.
