Bishop Ward High School President Fr. Michael Hermes and the Board of Trustees are proud to announce Dr. Judith Warren as the new principal for the 2010-2011 school year.
She will officially begin her duties on July 1.
Dr. Warren was appointed to the position by Fr. Michael Hermes upon the recommendation of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees, after a review of candidates and in consultation with Dr. Kathy O’Hara, superintendent of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. |
“Dr. Judy Warren has a strong reputation for her skills as an educator. She is passionate about Catholic education. She looks forward to leading us in our mission of providing a quality, Catholic, college prep education to our students,” Fr. Hermes said.
Dr. Warren has over 40 years of experience as an administrator and educator.
She began her career in the classroom with 26 years as a teacher. She was then appointed principal at St. Ann’s School and later as principal of St. Mary’s High School in Independence, Mo.
From 2000 to 2007, Dr. Warren served as Superintendent of Schools in the Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph and then returned to St. Mary’s High School as Interim Principal and Principal Mentor Consultant at St. Mary’s High School.
She has a Doctorate in Education Administration from the University of Kansas, a Master’s in Education/Liberal Arts from Baker University, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Education from the University of Kansas.
She has served on the Bishop Ward of Trustees since 2007 and chairs the Academic Committee.
“I am excited about the opportunity to lead a school that has such strong traditions and a history of spiritual formation and academic achievement,” Dr. Judy Warren said. “I look forward to working with the entire Bishop Ward community.”
After she begins her duties as principal on July 1, the Bishop Ward community will be invited to a reception to welcome her as the new principal.
Mr. Dennis Dorr will continue to serve as principal through June 30.
“He has served our students well as coach, teacher and principal,” Fr. Hermes said. “He continues to lead the Bishop Ward community by providing a positive learning environment for the students.”
“Our mission of providing a quality Catholic Christian, college prep education continues and will grow stronger,” Fr. Michael Hermes said. “The legacy and traditions that make our school great will not change.”
