<< BackHarper Named Bishop Ward Head Wrestling Coach
Bishop Ward High School has named Jemale Harper as the Head Wrestling Coach for the 2010-2011 school year.
“I am looking forward to being a part of the Cyclone athletic program,” Harper said. “The opportunity to work in a program filled with faith, tradition and dedication is my dream.”
Coach Harper has coached wrestling at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, where he brought 12 wrestlers to state, and coached at Hart State Middle School in his home state of Georgia. As a two-time state champion himself, Harper is bringing personal experience and vast knowledge to the team. Harper will also serve as Assistant Football Coach.
“Coach Harper has the qualities both personally and professionally that will make an immediate impact on our wrestling program,” Athletic Director Greg Duggins said. “I believe he will embrace this opportunity to share his passion, knowledge and experience with our student athletes. Coach Harper has an impressive background competing and coaching in strong wrestling programs across the country and no doubt will work his hardest in providing successful experiences for our athletes.”
Harper teaches enrichment classes at Holy Trinity Catholic School and religion and science at Christ the King Catholic School. He holds a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State University.
