KEVIN O’BRIEN RETURNING TO LEAD THE CYCLONES
Kansas City, KS – Mr. Kevin O’Brien is returning to Bishop Ward High School to serve as Principal
starting this July. For the past three years, Mr. O’Brien has been Principal at Resurrection
Catholic School, so he brings to Bishop Ward the valuable experience of leading a thriving
Catholic grade school just blocks from Bishop Ward.
“After a rigorous interview process that involved several outstanding candidates, there
was a clear consensus that Kevin O’Brien best embodies the mission of Bishop Ward and our
service to the urban core of Kansas City, Kansas,” said Mr. Jay Dunlap, President of Bishop
Ward.
Mr. O’Brien is well known at Bishop Ward, where he served on the faculty from 2016-
2021. He was hired to teach business classes and after his first year became Director of the
Academy of Finance, one of Bishop Ward’s signature academic offerings. He previously taught
at Cristo Rey High School, Christ the King Catholic School, and Red Cloud Indian School on the
Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
A graduate of Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, Mr. O’Brien has attained a Master’s
in Education from Rockhurst University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the
University of Notre Dame.
